Dubai woman Gajala Zakaria Siddiqui, age 47, has been arrested after illegally entering the Bandra apartment of Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur, surrendering to police after a security scare in which she provoked concern for the safety of public figures in the city.
As told by the Mumbai Police, the incident occurred at approximately 6 pm when Siddiqui approached Roy’s residence. She allegedly promised to bring clothes and gifts, claiming to have a scheduled meeting with him. Sunita Pawar, the house help, trusting Siddiqui’s tale, permitted her entry into the apartment of Kapur.
The narrative drastically evolved when Aditya Roy Kapur returned home to the woman in his living room. Surprised, he told his staff that he did not know her. Staff contacted the police, who arrived and took the woman for investigation. Police Officials reported that Siddiqui had no plausible reason for Kapur’s residence and confirmed she was detained under section 331(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for trespassing.
The security breach comes after several similar incidents within the Mumbai socialite circuit. Only a few days ago, Salman Khan noticed two instances of attempted trespassing at his Bandra home. Earlier this year, Saif Ali Khan also became a victim of an intruder’s attack on his house. This continues the troubling pattern of increasing threats towards Bollywood celebrities.
Officials are investigating how Siddiqui obtained the actor’s address and how he gained entry to the building. Law enforcement officials have once again stressed the need for more stringent protective measures and escalated surveillance for high-value targets within the city.
While Aditya Roy Kapur has remained silent regarding the issue, he is known to be preparing for the premiere of his new movie. Fortunately, the actor is accounted for, and his personnel are fully assisting with the investigation of this case.
With this incident, the discussion regarding the safety of public figures in Mumbai has once again sparked, with fans and people from the film industry advocating better safeguards to protect against breaches like these.
