Urvil Patel Shines for CSK: IPL 2025’s New Batting Star

Urvil Patel, the explosive wicketkeeper-batsman from Gujarat, is in the limelight in IPL 2025 after being picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a replacement for Vansh Bedi, who is out injured. With CSK already out of playoff contention, they brought Urvil on board for 30 lakh to reinforce their sagging squad. PATEL has seamlessly made his place in the team, displaying aggressive batting to exceed everyone’s expectations.

In the IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders, Urvil Patel single-handedly destroyed KKR’s bowling lineup, where he amassed 31 runs in just 11 balls, hitting four sixes and a four during the innings of his. His aggression and form set the stage for what was to come during the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 315 runs in 6 innings with an astounding average of almost 79 at a strike rate of 229.92. He had also set a record in November 2024 of 28 28-ball centuries against Tripura, a T20 century faster than any other Indian.

Having previously been on the Gujarat Titans roster, Urvil Patel, 26, made his IPL debut with CSK this season. His performances have led to speculation about him being promoted to open the batting for CSK as they try to establish a backbone for the team in hopes of not being in last place for the first time in their history.
